HE IS KNOWN TO THE BOXING WORLD AS

The many boxing critics that have given Manny Pacquiao there take on his career and what can he do to conclude his life in the ring, would also have to look back at how it all began before making a judgement on the Pac Man.
He was born Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao on December 17, 1978 in Kibawe, Philippines to parents Rosalio Pacquiao and Dionesia Dapridran, Manny had five siblings and sad to say but his parents seperation and divorce came to soon for the Pacquiao family in the late 80's which would put Manny on the rough streets of Manila. He was fourteen years old when he left home (as his mother struggled to feed and take care of all six of her children alone), it must have been very difficult for Manny to be out there alone and in the rough streets at such a young age but it was also a platform for what would be waiting for him in his quest for success. His work ethics that has become his trademark today and survival skills that he utilizes in the ring are true "eye of the tiger" toughness that were implanted early in the streets of Manila.
He would find his true calling early in his teens and would eventually use his given survival tools to make a name for himself and the many people he represents today. He dropped out of school to make a living and not without feeling regret but as he was living in the now(he would later return and receive his High School Equivilency Diploma and turn towards a college education but at the time that would be put on hold)he was going to go through the motions in the amateur boxing world. When the dust settled his record would be enough to seek a professional career (amateur record of 60-4). He went in professionally as a Light Flyweight and would move fast as his record would open eyes in the Light Flyweight Division 11-0 (he would later claim to have cheated on making weight as he was so light that he would hide weights on him to make the minimum required 105lbs. for fights). He would suffer his first defeat in the weight class and professional career to Rustico Torrecampo and would do so with Rustico knocking him out in the third round.
That first pro loss would open is eyes and allow him to realize that speed would not be the only tool to dominate in boxing but being able to take a punch as well as movement, knowing that there weren't many southpaws in the sport he wanted to take advantage of it and as a result he would allow himself to set opponents up with hidden blows and attacks, and weight would eventually have to come into play if he wanted to effectively hurt the opossition. He would do so and move on to the flyweight division where he would win his first world title against Chatchai Sasukul, knocking him out in the 8th round to capture the WBC Flyweight crown. He would lose it later by going to the scales over the 112lbs limit. Therefore bringing in and going under the tutorledge of iconic ex boxer/turn trainer Freddie Roach. Manny would be guided through a career that would put him among the elite in todays boxing world, winning and being the first(only) to have won eight division world championships and having ten world titles under his belt.
He would marry (Maria Geraldine Jamora"Jinkee" Pacquiao) and have five children of his own keeping himself busy throughout his twenties becoming involved in the Philippine army(moving up the ranks to Senior Master Sergeant) and residing today in General Santo City,South Cotabato del sur ,Philipines but tecnically residing in Sarangani/Kiamba(his wife's hometown) where he is a congressman and has been a part of the political process for several years now. For a man to where so many hats and can involve himself in the Mecca of two stages(politics and boxing) he truly represents well and the love of his people in the Philippines is truly genuine. For a man of limited means and stature(height 5'7')he undoubtedly packs a hard punch
As the years have gone past the normal boxers prime in the sport and he has fought the very best in several weight classes (draws to Agapito Sanchez and Juan Manuel Marquez,losses to Bradley and Erik Morales in which he would get wins on both there rematches) he would settle at the welterweight division fighting the very best (Ricky Hattan,Shane Mosely,Oscar De La Hoya,Miguel Cotto,Brandon Rios,Juan Manuel Marquez *4 times*, Timothy Bradley*twice*,Marco Antonio Barreras *twice*,Erik Morales*3 times*)with a minimized and less attractive venue in which the welterweight division has had in the last decade there is nothing else that Pac Man has to prove today (record 56 wins 5 losses and 2 draws) but the boxing world and Manny Pacquiao knows that there is no satisfaction on moving on beyond boxing nor is there no goal reached in his boxing career until he goes in the ring with he man that stands in his way with a confidents that can remove hair off of a lion. The trash talking undefeated champion with a mouth that is as long as the amount of money he has in his backpack, and becoming more confident as the years go by and Pacquiao reaches beyond his mid thirties. His name is Floyd Mayweather Jr and to this day has eluded fighting Manny, with more excuses than there are zombies on The Walkin Dead, Floyd continues to elude and says that Manny uses performing enhancing drugs and refuses to go into the ring with the Pac Man. Manny knows that retirement is not in the cards until he not just satisfies his own ultimate goal but erases all the skepticism that today puts him at #2 with #1(Floyd Mayweather Jr.) running until Manny isn't the Pac Man we all know. Manny truly believes that Floyd knows that he can run but in the court of public opinion .........he cannot hide for long, then and only then can Floyd put his money where his mouth is........................................................................THE PAC MAN WILL BE WAITING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-story by John Rosario/Unidos Mag.
